Writer's Block: I Love My Body Because…

Why do you love your body?

I love my eyes. I think that the eyes tell a lot about a person. I've always felt my eyes were very mysterious. My eyes are hazel and they change colors depending on the color of clothing I wear. Also, they have brown specks in them which I think is pretty cool.

Writer's Block: Memo to Myself

If you could travel back in time, what advice would you give to your younger self?

Don't get married!!!!!

Writer's Block: Green Living

How green is your school, office, or home?

We are trying to be green. We recycle, which I think is a wonderful thing. My mother has also decided that we need an electric lawnmower. This is great in theory, but living in Arkansas you can hardly get this thing through some of the tall grass. In my opinion its kind of like the smart car it sounds great until you get into it next to a semi and you have that thought of "I could be ran over like a tiny bug."

Writer's Block: Licensed to Drive

Should we just be handing over the car keys when kids turn 16? Why or why not?

I think so. We let our children go off to war at the age of 18 why not let them drive at 16.

Almost the End!!

Well everyone I have once again been able to read e-mails and write on LJ. I will be graduating next Thursday and at least until RN school will be a real human being. I will be able to read books that are not about the nursing process or critical thinking. I will be able to watch television instead of studying for pharmacology and Med/Surg. I will actually be able to visit with my family and not be worried about the test the next day. To everyone that has put up with my craziness, dad I'm talking to you, I love you and I can't wait to be able to visit and chat like we did before school.

Writer's Block: Internal Assets

Happy birthday, Nostradamus. Many people consider the prophecies of Nostradamus to be uncannily accurate, while others remain skeptical. Do you think it's possible to predict the future?

I do not think that I would sell an organ, but I would consider selling my eggs. There are some down falls to this procedure most of which have to do with being on the fertility drugs. As a starving student who is in financial hardship I have thought of this option on more than one occasion.

Writer's Block: Fright Show

'Tis the season for scary movies. Some rank The Evil Dead as the best horror film of all time. What is your favorite scary movie?

I would have to say that the best horror movie of all time would be Night of the Living Dead. That is of course if we are talking about the whole genre. In recent years I love the Rob Zombie movies House of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects. As far as a movie that actually frightened me it would have to be the original Amityville Horror. As an adult no scary movie has frightened me. I love all of them though and try to see as many as I can.

Writer's Block: Sharing Haikus

The Japanese haiku poet Basho once wrote, "Old pond / a frog jumps / the sound of water." Try writing some of your own haikus about the little things in your life. A haiku generally consists of a five-syllable line, a seven-syllable line and a second five-syllable line. You can also use any combination of ten-to-fourteen syllables.

Nursing school blues.

Studying is non-stop work.

It is all worth it.

Writer's Block: Your Invention...

If you could invent one thing and make it a reality, what would it be? Why?

I would invent something that would allow you to move important information from short term memory to long term memory and to delete unwanted information. If we could treat our brains like a massive storage device it would be great. Think about all of the crap that we memorize and don't need. I have a horrible time memorizing important information for my classes, but I can remember the lyrics of a song the second time I hear it. If I could tap in and move important information from short term to long term and delete the stuff I dont need it would be easier.

Writer's Block: Deals & Steals

What’s the best deal you’ve gotten recently? How did you find it/make it happen?
I think the best deal that I got lately was the fact that I got all of my nursing book for under $400. It is amazing to me that a student can be expected to pay $500-$600 in textbooks. For any people looking forward to going to school it isn't the tution that will kill you it is the cost of books. Oh and if you think that you can get any money for them when you are done with the semester just chalk it up! Not that I would want to sell any of my nursing books back because they are great references, but when I was a freshman taking Music Apriciation it was amazing that you would buy the book and CD's for $150 and be able to sell it back for $20. I wish I would have gotten into this amazing textbook racket so I would be making the profit those people are making.
